Praline Crunch

Ingredients

  • 8 cups Crispix  cereal (or your favorite crunchy cereal)
  • 2 cups  pecan halves (or a mix of your favorite nuts)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Instructions

    Step 1: Preheat the Oven

      1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
      2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.

    Step 2: Prepare the Cereal and Nuts

    1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Crispix cereal and pecan halves. Set aside.

    1. In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugarcorn syrup, and butter.
    2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil.
    3. Let it boil for 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
    4. Stir in the baking soda and vanilla extract. The mixture will bubble up slightly—this is normal and helps create the light, crispy coating.

    Step 4: Coat the Cereal and Nuts

    1. Pour the praline mixture over the cereal and nuts in the bowl.
    2. Gently stir with a spatula to coat everything evenly.

    Step 5: Bake

    1. Spread the coated mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet.
    2. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even coating and prevent sticking.

    Step 6: Cool and Serve

    1. Remove from the oven and let the praline crunch cool completely on the baking sheet.
    2. Once cooled, break into bite-sized pieces and transfer to an airtight container for storage.
